King by Stephanie Meyer
King by Stephanie Meyer
Stephanie Fenton and her world of Vampires, werewolves, and witchcraft in her first book of the Stephanie Fantasy Crown series. That’s what I got from reading her first novel. In her second novel, The Undead King, she introduces a new threat to her characters. No, it’s not the vampires that are threatening Stephanie but rather the wizards that have come to Mere Mordheim (the home of the dead.
Stephanie Fenton does an amazing job of creating suspense and adventure in her story. Her grasp of world building is fantastic. In addition, she knows how to make the reader care about these characters because they’re real people with their own problems. Her plots require that you pay attention to what’s going on with each scene. By the end of the book, you don’t care about what happens to the main characters, but you will want to know what happens to Stephanie and how the story is intertwined with hers.
Stephanie’s first novel The Undead King was a very enjoyable read. It took me through many of the fantasy genres very well. The book was dark, was filled with fantasy and magic, but was also very unique. There were moments when I really felt that I was reading about a person in this world who had really lived. This makes The Undead King stands out from most of the fantasy I’ve experienced.
With The Undead King, Stephanie Fenton introduces another interesting character. Mere Mortheim, the author’s middle name for Stephanie, has turned into a lich. She has become the ruler of a town called Atheland. Stephanie has spent the last several years trying to get her hands on the powerful artifact known as the Crown of Candlekeep. Unfortunately, she has run into a few road blocks along the way and has fallen into the arms of a more powerful being.
As I mentioned earlier, The Undead King is filled with fantasy and has very unique characters. Stephanie has crafted a very fun and fast paced book. This book could easily stand on its own and would be a great jumping off point for readers who are new to her writing. The book’s plot is intricate and will make you want to get started reading right away.
This book contains a lot of secrets and items that won’t be found in other Stephanie Foe novels. If you have been following Stephanie’s past books, then you know that she likes to put secrets and items out there that people will find surprising. This book certainly has those traits and I can only hope that others pick up where The Undead King left off.
Stephanie has put together a very likable cast of characters. Stephanie has developed them very well and it shows. She has created a cast of main characters with very good back stories. These characters all interact with each other and learn to adapt to their new situation. The interactions between the different characters were real and had me laughing at times. I got a feeling that this book may not have a happy ending but it will leave you wanting to find out what happens next.
Overall, Fantasy Crown was a fun book to read. It left me wanting to get started on the next one. I hope that the next Stephanie Fantasy Crown story is as good as the first one. I would recommend this book to any fans of Stephanie’s work and to new readers.
I would also like to give special mention to the excellent blurb that comes with the book. It gave me a lot of ideas for the next time I would read about Stephanie and her adventures. Reading the blurb made me want to get started reading the book right away.
The last thing I want to mention about The Undead King is how easily you can lose yourself in the story. There are so many things happening at once and it makes reading the book a pleasure. You get so caught up in the story that you don’t care about everything else going on. You are just enjoying the ride. The story is fast moving, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth your time.
All in all, The Undead King is another excellent Stephanie Fantasy book. If you haven’t picked it up, you might be missing out. If you have read The Undead King, you will understand why I said above why I felt so strongly about this book. It’s a book that will keep you interested from start to finish. It is well-written and full of adventure, just what you would expect from fantasy author Stephanie Meyer.
